The Belladonna
I was sick of hearing “women aren’t funny.”
A few years ago, someone I only knew from an online humor-writing group asked if anyone was interested in creating a new comedy site. Months later, four of us launched The Belladonna, a satire site designed to amplify the voices of women writers and other marginalized genders.
By the end of the first year, we had 20,000 followers on our platforms. We must have been doing something right—especially considering our budget for advertising was $30!
It was a great lesson in entrepreneurship. We learned from trial and error and the site’s still going strong!
Here are some of my favorite pieces that I’ve authored or co-authored
Dear Diary, Rolf is a Mansplaining Nazi
I’m the Motherfucking Oxford Comma
I, Pepe Le Pew, Can No Longer Catcall the Ladies
Found: Anne Shirley’s Bucket List for Summer 1883
Lipstick Shade, Harlequin Romance Title or Female Literary Figure who Grappled with Insanity?
Also, check out all our talented authors over here at The Belladonna. We are humbled to work with amazing writers, and thrilled to let them be heard.
